OCTOBER 2 - 29, 2026

This show celebrates the timeless beauty of locally-grown flowers in October through all-dried, everlasting arrangements and installations. Abby Zlotnick is the owner of Juniper Farm and has been consistently inspired by farming since her first farming experience in 2012. Since then, she has made it her mission to share a slice of the Earth’s greatest joys with her community.

OCTOBER 2 - 29, 2026

Animals have always been a huge part of scratchboard artist, Megan George’s life. From her upbringing on a dairy farm to her career as a vet tech, animals have taught Megan the essence of what it means to be on this earth. Her goal with her art is to convey the emotions and lessons that animals can teach us, in all their life stages.

AUGUST 21 - SEPTEMBER 24, 2026

Known for her razor-sharp wit and painterly precision, Tracey brings humor and critique together in her satirical book paintings - each one a playful jab at modern life, politics, and cultural absurdities. Her figurative work explores themes of identity, social norms, and resistance, all through a lens of vibrant realism and irreverent charm.

The “Tiny Print Showcase” is presented by Carbondale Arts with an open call for entries closing July 1, 2026. Jurors Johanna Mueller and Ray Muñoz are joining us, plus a handful of invited artists. Open to all printmakers currently living in the state of Colorado!

JULY 9 - AUGUST 13, 2026

“The Way Is Not A Way But A Place” by mixed media artist Chloe Wilwerding proposes a shift from achievement in nature towards wonder, intimacy, and attention to the landscape. In our fast-paced, achievement-oriented outdoor culture, a hiking trail can be a means to an end—towards a step goal, collecting mountain peaks, or conquering summits.

JULY 9 - AUGUST 13, 2026

The GEOart Collective is an international consortium of textile artists who share a love and fascination of nature and the geosciences. Artists include Nancy Dobson, Theresa Ely, Mary Louise Gerek, Neffra Matthews, Janet Scruggs, Susan Serreze, and Anne Severn. The artists have been exploring themes including Cracks, Layers, and Water for this show.

APRIL 17 - MAY 21, 2026

What started as a figurative investigation while attending fine arts school has turned into a divergent exploration on the evocative power of materials (paper, pumice, wheat paste, fibers), techniques (décollage, shodō, burning, ripping, tearing, stabbing), and the balance between: subtraction-addition, destruction-creation, chaos-order.

APRIL 17 - MAY 21, 2026

Ben and Chris share a forty-plus year friendship centered on the exploration and interplay of artistic ideas. Their work embodies their shared creative vision, their love and care for each other, and their emotive depth. This 2-person exhibition will explode with expressive dynamic paintings and sculptures, embellished charcoal drawings, and whimsical amorphous ceramics explores rich possibilities in abstracted form, color, and line, informed by their long-lived conversation.

MARCH 6 - APRIL 9, 2026

Structures Inachevées brings together the evolving threads of artist Ludivine’s work from the emotional layering of her series Recadrage to the fragmented presence of the human form in Silhouette. Each piece remains open, unfinished, inviting the viewer to complete the story or let it remain in motion. Across all series, the artist explores the tension between structure and absence, balance and disruption, visibility and silence.

MARCH 6 - APRIL 9, 2026

A giant contraption extrudes an impossible cannoli, at once grotesque and delightful. Performance and sculpture converge in a communal, larger-than-life dessert experience. Rooted in family nostalgia and childhood trips to bakeries, the work transforms a cherished memory into a nostalgic, collective spectacle.

NOVEMBER 14 - DECEMBER 24, 2025

Carbondale Arts' annual "Deck the Walls" holiday market features over 60 local and regional artists and will open for Carbondale Arts members on Friday, November 14, and then open to the public almost every day through December 24.

OCTOBER 3 - 30, 2025

In her solo show “Recording Time (with Scraps and Words)”, mixed media artist Courtney Kenny uses poetry as a form of sketching to record observations, emotions, frustrations, and revelations. Life is so finite and yet so mysterious; through Courtney’s art and poetry she attempts to document these visceral moments of awe, inviting viewers to explore the depths of the human psyche through the interplay of observation, metaphor, and artistic expression.

OCTOBER 3 - 30, 2025

In his solo show “Fluid Landscapes”, Michael Kinsley’s newer landscape paintings are notable for their intriguing amplification of Nature’s sensual forms. These “fluid” landscapes in oil depict familiar scenes in SE Utah and Western Colorado, especially the Roaring Fork Valley. Though he often paints outside, his larger studio pieces are based on his outside sketches. Michael says, “In an increasingly troubling world, my paintings are solace to me and hopefully to the viewer.”

OCTOBER 3 - 30, 2025

In her solo show “Intimate. Immensity.”, Laura Dortmans’ ceramic sculptures perform as a surrogate for the physicality of her body – not as direct representation, rather as a response to bodily sensations. The solidification of gestural movement translates a moment of intimate touch and gives form to the immensity of internal geography; desire, tender love, sensual connection, preserved in space and time.

AUGUST 22 - SEPTEMBER 25, 2025

“That Which Remains” by Agustina Mistretta is a poetic interpretation of the language of the mountains, capturing the transitional periods and the apparent changes in the landscape from the perspective of combining personal history, family and found archival material, and a personal obsession with her surrounding topography. Mountains have been a steady guiding force in her life path.

AUGUST 22 - SEPTEMBER 25, 2025

“Empyreal Odyssey” by multimedia artist Benjamin Eric explores the intersection of mythology and cosmology, drawing inspiration from ancient cultural stories and symbols regarding celestial phenomena and the human desire to connect to the divine. Recognizable imagery created through a combination of recycled wood, artifacts and various mediums are meant to be a new narrative as imagined by the artist.

JULY 11 - AUGUST 14, 2025

This solo exhibition is by local artist Vallee Noone who says, “When I'm drawing, I feel as though I am watching the pieces form and have very little say in the vision. It feels like someone else is pushing my hand. In fact, if I try to pursue a particular vision, the drawing falls apart quickly. It's when I surrender that the most amazing details, threads and coincidences become apparent.”

JULY 11 - AUGUST 14, 2025

Witness artist Chad Knowles’ surrealistic and whimsical approach to natural and fantastic landscapes. He encourages you to “see life through a new lens, one that could be called psychedelic or transcendental; but, it’s always a light-hearted dream – one that brings a smile to your heart.”

APRIL 11 - MAY 15, 2025

“subject/matr/mother” was a group exhibition curated by Shawna Miller with featured artists Mya Cluff, Courtney Dudley, Darla Jackson, LUCIA, Erin Morrison, and Maria Teicher. Matr is the Latin root for material, matter, and maternal. The seven female artists in this show created work that centered on the complexity of the maternal experience. The curation celebrated the link between “woman” and “mother,” while interrogating the way we associate them as one-and-the-same, or a preordained linear destiny.

FEBRUARY 28 - APRIL 4, 2025

“Cosmic Compost” is an experiment in honoring and acknowledging decomposition as an essential process in the continuation of life. Using both organic and manufactured materials that have been gathered, scavenged, and arranged in new contexts, the artworks explore the ephemerality of the material world and the fabric into which it is woven — built to change, and embedded with potential.

The environment is a product of us: man made commodities intertwined with nature creating change on earth, but not a healthier one. Animals make their homes in shoes, displaced boxes, tires in the ocean, even their beds are made out of plastic threads, old clothes, and wire. How much longer can wildlife sustain this?

The Valley Visual Art Show is one of the longest-standing community art shows committed to showing the work of local artists. VVAS began in 1980 as a venue for local artists to share their artwork with the public.

Every holiday season, Carbondale Arts transforms its gallery space into a shop filled with artisan goods created by local and regional artists from all over the Roaring Fork Valley and the state of Colorado. Goods typically include handmade candles and cards, jewelry and chocolates, ceramics and soaps and more!

SEPTEMBER 27 - NOVEMBER 1, 2024

“Community Service Print Projects” is a group exhibition of work by student-artists at The Project Shop, a local non-profit arts organization. This program engages student-artists to express their voices on critical issues by learning design development, printmaking, and production skills with access to equipment and instruction in a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment. These projects demonstrate how art can encourage conversation and connection within our communities.

SEPTEMBER 27 - NOVEMBER 1, 2024

“Women (Im)Print” showcases hand-printed works by two women who are friends and collaborators: Katie Browne (curator) and Bailey Haines. The title is a play on words: printmaking is the mode in which we creatively express ourselves, while the imprints that the people and places in our lives leave on us and that we leave on them provide the basis of our inspiration.

AUGUST 16 - SEPTEMBER 19, 2024

“Patterns of Consumption” is a solo exhibition by Denver-based artist Kalliopi Monoyios who works to mature the conversation around plastic and American consumerism. Though much of the environmentally themed work about plastic leads with guilt and shame, her work seeks to balance that with awe and beauty in an effort to embrace the complexity of our relationship with the material.

AUGUST 16 - SEPTEMBER 19, 2024

“A Love Letter to Indian Creek” is a solo exhibition by local painter Clarissa Fortier. Located just south of Moab, Utah, Indian Creek has been cherished by Native peoples for thousands of years and is a part of Bears Ears National Monument where Clarissa loves to rock climb and paint. This show is an ode to the place that has held Clarissa through so much change over many years.
