I think Carbondale Arts does an amazing job with their shows and their programming.... Out of all our institutions in the Valley, they are probably one of the best at getting people in the door, so it’s good exposure...

Carbondale Arts presented the 42nd Annual Valley Visual Art Show, which opened to the public on Friday, January 22 from 10am-7pm, and was on display at the R2 Gallery through February 25.

The Valley Visual Art Show is one of the longest-standing community art shows committed to showing the work of local artists. VVAS began in 1980 as a venue for local artists to share their artwork with the public. VVAS still provides this opportunity, especially for artists new to the area and budding artists, but the show has also become both a salute to the wide variety of artistic talents in our area and a time to bring the artist community together. This show featured 50 Roaring Fork Valley artists and included two and three dimensional work created in with wide variety of media. We received work from many new artists as well as many long-time local artists from the Roaring Fork Valley.

In celebration of our 50th year of Mountain Fair in 2021, we hid 10 “Golden Tickets” hidden behind different artworks in this VVAS exhibition. Purchasers of these select artworks drew from a jar of special Golden Ticket prizes!

Also unique to the VVAS are the coveted People’s Choice Awards. Visitors to the R2 Gallery are invited to vote (only once!) for their favorite artwork.
