Carbondale finds its sense of place under the gaze of Mount Sopris and confluence of the Roaring Fork and Crystal Rivers. The town of Carbondale has created a special niche in the Roaring Fork Valley with a rich mixture of creative industries and artists, cultural heritage, ranching and local food production, as well as abundant outdoor recreation. Arts and history are a significant part of the community's culture and local economy.

In 2016 Colorado Creative Industries, a division of the state Office of Economic Development and International Trade, designated Carbondale as a Creative District, which is managed by Carbondale Arts.  Artist Opportunities

We try to uplift the creative economy in any way we can. This includes being a resource for creative happenings, endeavors and opportunities for artists to thrive.

We believe in the collective power of Carbondale’s citizens, organizations and enterprises. We are more creative together.

 Land Acknowledgement

When visiting the beautiful landscape that encompasses Carbondale, you are on the ancestral territory and homelands of the Nuche (Ute) people. We honor their inherent stewardship of the land, water and air that we have the privilege to immerse ourselves in. We recognize the violent history and removal of the Nuche people and culture, and strive to be modern-day advocates to move forward in an authentic and peaceful manner.
