New to the CCD: Spring Pilates
We had the pleasure of chatting with Katlynn Kidd, owner of the new pilates studio on Main Street, Spring Pilates.
We're happy to welcome Spring Pilates to Carbondale, when did you open your doors? Tell us about your location and offerings.
Our very first class was held on September 21st, Grand Opening was October 7th! We are located at 1131 Main St, next door to Crystal River Spas on and across from Evolve Structural Design, just east of the roundabout. We offer a variety of comprehensive, full body reformer workouts, with modifications and progressions offered to ensure that every body feels safe, challenged, and accomplished! Currently, we have 3 instructors offering classes daily, for a total of 25 group classes/week; there is truly something for everyone! Check out pilatescarbondale.com for class descriptions, schedule, pricing, private offerings and more. We offer new clients, 3 classes for $50. In addition, there are monthly memberships and flexible class packs.
Movement is considered medicine, and Carbondale is known for being an active community. Has this leant itself well to your business venture? What types of folks benefit most from pilates? Are there options for beginners?
Absolutely! We are here to serve the community and currently work with clients ages 18-84! Movement is truly medicine. Our “essentials” class is offered 7 times/ week. This open-level class is a perfect place to start for beginners due to the slower pace and focus on fundamentals. Also, a great refreshing daily practice for any client. This class is safe for ALL including pre/postnatal and those with injuries or contraindication as long you have medical clearance for exercise. We also offer “move and melt” for a more restorative class and “osteolates,” for those with osteoporosis, osteopenia or back issues, that beginners are welcome to join. Consistent movement benefits every person. Pilates lengthens while strengthening your muscles, it is also the most effective exercise of those with back pain. Regular exercise improves mental health as well, reducing symptoms of depression and anxiety.
Is there a way that you envision your space to be engaging to the community?
My vision for Spring Pilates is to create a community-centered space where everyone is welcomed to experience reformer Pilates in an inspiring, creative and safe space where they are encouraged to strengthen their minds and bodies while nourishing their souls and building healthy relationships with themselves and the community. I love to watch clients come in and recognize a familiar face, reconnect with an old friend and make new ones! We also offer a wide range of community workshops throughout the year.
Healing Arts is one of the CCD categories, how do you view your studio or practice as a creative outlet?
Whether your goal is to gain strength, relieve stress, improve posture, increase focus, improve balance, increase flexibility or are short on time and are simply looking for an efficient full body workout, Pilates is for you. This beautiful community space is truly a sanctuary for clients to take 50 minutes out of their day to calm their minds, enjoy moving their body and focus on themselves in a fun, uplifting community setting.
