This summer concert series is designed to celebrate the rich diversity of artistic styles and cultural backgrounds in our place and time. Through innovative collaborations, we explore the layers of our stories and the composite of our passions in four programs, each a different world created with its unique voice and narrative, sounds and expressions, ranging from baroque to folk, from minimalistic to classical, from poetry to modern novella.

Tickets to individual shows are $30 or $100 for a season pass (4 total). Limited tickets available, don’t delay! Concerts begin at 6:00 pm on the grounds of the Thompson House Museum (with an alternate location for the August show, at The Orchard).

This is a B.Y.O.E event (Bring Your Own Everything). Bring a chair or blanket, some yummy snacks and refreshments, and be ready to be serenaded!

August 18-19Death of the Pugilist” *will be held at The Orchard

An experimental ensemble piece based on contemporary American novelist Daniel Mason’s story of the same time. A narrator tells the story in its unedited entirety and five musicians weaves the emotional tapestry with music. From the quayside docks, to taverns of low-repute, and the squalor of family life in the working class, the narrative follows a young man as he comes of age in a rough-and-tumble profession, and an actual boxing event that took place in the 1800’s England. Settling on modern, minimalistic music to emphasize the objectiveness of the story teller, Bach as the point/counterpoint inherent in boxing, and Irish folk music to set the tone for the time period, the production creates something greater than the whole of its parts, a moving, emotionally rapt work that is truly unique.

Performers: Jem Moore (narrator & musician) MinTze Wu (violin), Eric Thorin (musician), Joy Adams (musician), Blayne Chastain (musician).
