Carbondale Arts presented “I except it: I accept it”, a solo exhibition by Simon Klein, at the Carbondale Arts R2 Gallery on exhibition March 4-April 8, 2022. The public was invited to an artist talk on First Friday evening, March 4, at 5:15pm at The Launchpad to hear Simon speak, along with artist Marilyn Lowey, whose solo exhibition installation “My Birthday Party” was also on display the same dates.
Simon Klein’s solo exhibition “I except it : I accept it” was a show in time. Everything here was a web of relationships between the work, the artist, and you, finding meaning through these interactions together and standing in the face of an unyielding clock.
There are many other artists, musicians, and filmmakers that joined Simon in creating the initial objects you could see and hear, an initial group of people to create more community. There were handmade films, photos, language, sounds, and images all with a sense of time.
There are things that will broke and changed, and needed to be replaced with something else. Simon’s hope was for visitors to join him in workshops or events to create something together.
To begin again.
Both exhibitions were generously supported by the Aspen Art Museum. The Aspen Art Museum is a non-collecting institution presenting the newest, most important evolutions in international contemporary art. Their innovative and timely exhibitions, education and public programs, immersive activities, and community happenings actively engage audiences in thought-provoking experiences of art, culture, and society.
This exhibition opened the same dates (March 4-April 8, 2022) as “My Birthday Party” by Marilyn Lowey.
