The Gateway Public Art Project is Finished with Phase 1

Murals from the left: Sandra Fettingis, Nicholas Ward

The first wave of art installation for the Gateway Public Art Project begins later this week. Five Colorado muralists will be painting over the course of the next two weeks on site at the new Central Self Storage on Highway 133.  Later this year, sculptures will be installed by three Roaring Fork Valley artists. This project sets a great precedent for how we can be proactive about capturing community benefits alongside the growth in our community. It shows that we can create and implement innovative systems and processes for ongoing and sustained funding to support the role and place of artists in Carbondale.
